SAVING OUR 'DRAGONS'
First-time filmmaker and the 3rd winner of the Nature Environment Wildlife Film Festival N.E.W Pitch, Shivan Parusnath, showcases his film.
Also a PhD student, Shivan is studying reptiles and the film documents his passion for Sungazer lizards which are also the focus of his research.
With their unique dragon-like appearance, Sungazers are high in demand as pets around the world, but there is a problem: they don’t breed in captivity and all the animals we see in the trade worldwide, come directly from our threatened South African wild populations.
